A Heartfelt BreyerFest Memory
I am still deeply humbled that my beloved Silky Keno became part of Breyer history. To see her recognized not only as a collectible model but as one that carried meaning far beyond the hobby is something I will never forget.
Her story stood for something more. Her model was created to benefit the American Cancer Society, a cause that touches so many lives—including my own, as a survivor of ovarian cancer. Knowing that her model helped raise awareness and funds for something so personal to me makes the honor even more profound.
What made that moment even more special was that her colt, Shadow of Blue, also appeared at BreyerFest, with his own special run of just 1,500 pieces made exclusively for the event. Together, they became part of the story that collectors still treasure to this day.
Over the years, Silky Keno has delighted thousands of collectors, bringing joy, connection, and artistry into homes across the country. Even now she continues to hold a cherished place in collections, a reminder of how powerful the bond between a horse and the hobby can be.
She is more than a model—she’s part of my lifelong bond with the model horse community, a bond I’ve cherished for decades and that continues to shape my journey today. From my earliest days in the hobby, I never dreamed that one of my horses would stand as a piece of BreyerFest history.
I am endlessly grateful to the community that has celebrated her, collected her, and shared in this experience with me. The heart of this hobby has always been about more than the models—it’s about the people, the stories, and the history we build together. Thank you for being part of that story with me.
