Remembering Jim Clifton and the Paint Horse Dreams We Shared

Seunta’s shop, offices, and all of our production happen right here on a private Paint Horse farm — a place that blends creativity with the quiet rhythm of the horses we love. The heart behind this farm and the inspiration for everything we do traces back to my dear friend Jim Clifton, whose lifelong passion for Paint Horses helped shape not just this space, but the spirit of Seunta itself.

Some of my earliest experiences with real horses were shaped by someone incredibly special—Jim Clifton. Jim wasn’t just a dear friend; he was a kindred spirit whose passion for Paint Horses burned brighter than anyone I’ve ever known.

Every year, Jim welcomed a small herd of foals into the world. We’d wait with such excitement, never knowing what colors, patterns, or personalities would arrive. Each one felt like a gift, and we had the best time watching them grow and helping place them in loving homes.

We shared countless long road trips—sometimes just for the chance to see a new Paint Horse or meet someone who loved them as much as we did. Jim had an amazing memory for bloodlines, and his knowledge of coat color genetics was as deep as his love for the animals.

It was thanks to him that I found my way into the APHA show circuit in those early days. He inspired me not just with his knowledge, but with his heart. Even on a tight budget, he kept his small herd going—making sure they were fed first thing every morning and safe every night before he’d rest.

Jim passed away a few years ago, and his absence is still deeply felt by so many. But his legacy lives on in every person he encouraged, every horse he raised, and every moment of wonder he created for people like me.

In his last year of life, Jim had even discovered model horses and started his own little collection of Paints — it brought him so much joy and felt like a full-circle moment.

Here’s to Jim—and to the horses that brought us together.
