Aether and Arcane

The name Aether comes from ancient Greek. The word aithēr referred to the pure, bright upper air of the heavens, the clear light that the gods were believed to breathe. Greek philosophers later described Aether as the fifth element, a perfect celestial substance beyond earth, air, fire, and water that filled the cosmos and carried the light of the stars.

The name Arcane comes from the Latin arcanus, meaning hidden, secret, or mysterious knowledge. It often refers to powers or truths that are understood only by those who seek deeply.

Because of this, the two names are closely connected. Arcane is the mystery, the unseen force of knowledge and magic. Aether is the realm that holds it, the luminous sky where such power moves freely.

There is a quiet story in their names.

Long ago, before the world was fully understood, people believed the heavens were made of Aether, a pure shining substance that carried the light of the universe. Within that endless brightness lived the hidden forces that shaped the world. Those forces were called Arcane.

Arcane guarded the secrets.

Aether carried them across the sky.

So the sisters are linked by something ancient. One represents the mystery that cannot be easily seen. The other represents the vast sky where that mystery lives and moves.

When Arcane runs, it feels like something powerful and unknowable.

When Aether runs, it feels like light itself has taken form.
